2023 Fight Club

The first time Fight Club was mentioned in Eads, Colorado, it took place in a church Sunday school class. Once it was made clear that Fight Club had nothing to do with fisticuffs, some thought it must be a Bible study. Another hurdle to face!

Finally, the challenge, “Just come see what Fight Club is really about.” So, a date was announced, even posters were put up all over the community and hardly anyone showed up. It was then that we learned one of the lessons of small-town life. High School sports reign and parents attend the games no matter what. The only nights sports do not take place are Monday nights. Thus, the announcements were made, posters were put up and a few guys attended their very first Fight Club on a Monday night at JJ’s Restaurant. Fortunately, the establishment’s owner, Jennifer, has caught the vision of what Fight Club does for men and opens the restaurant on Mondays. The restaurant is normally closed Mondays.

The restaurant’s adequate conference room has become Fight Club’s monthly home for Southern Colorado. Thankfully, a few men came down from Parker which added to the excitement and our efforts began to pay off.

The numbers are small compared with those of the parent club In Parker. But as Caleb’s Heart Ministries and Fight Club founder Phil Floyd told us, “If anyone asks how many were there, tell them, ‘The right ones’.”

We’ve learned another lesson about this area of small communities, men will motor to the end of the earth to join with other guys if they are interested in being there. In addition to our friends from Parker we are having regular attendees from one community a forty-five-minute drive away and another an hour away.

More importantly, Fight Club is having a positive effect on a number of men in these three rural communities and beyond. We may be talking about office workers and employers, as well as blue-collar workers, and Military veterans typical of every Fight Club. But in our region, we include farmers and ranchers. These guys are men among men. These are men who never turn back. Their commitment to Christ is solid. They take on the enemy at every turn. They know what it means to call out Satan in Jesus’ Name… and win.

We gather at JJ’s Restaurant — 505 East 15th Street, Eads, Colorado 81036, The third Monday of the month, 6:30pm, starting January 16, 2023.

What is Fight Club?

Fight Club is a group of guys committed to doing life together.  Regardless of our personal beliefs, we examine the historical life of Jesus, and try to model our own lives on the way he approached life.  For some of us, that means un-learning what organized religion has taught us.  For others it means getting introduced to his life for the first time.  In either case, Fight Club represents a completely fresh look at Jesus' life and an entirely new way of dialoging about stuff that actually matters in our own lives.Daniel
